Default Christy Series and Movies

Does anybody know the Christy series and/or movies, based on the book by Catherine Marshall? I recently came across 'Christy: Return to Cutter Gap' (UK title for Christy: The Movie) for the first time on TV, and I liked it. It's a story set in the Great Smoky Mountains, Tennessee of 1912. Christy Huddleston (Lauren Lee Smith), a 19 year old missionary schoolteacher, comes to the very remote and backward town of Cutter Gap, where life hasn't changed much since the 1860s; the scenery and way people live is very similar to on Dr. Quinn.

It's not DQ, but it was a nice film, I enjoyed it. Coincidentally, it also featured Diane Ladd (Charlotte Cooper in Dr. Quinn)!

I looked for more information online, and found out that there was previously a Christy TV series, starring Kellie Martin. Has anybody seen it?

Eeeek Lizzie! The television series was on around the same time as DQ! The series is much better than the movie you mentioned actually. The movie was made after the series had ended and not many of the original actors played the same parts. On the program, Kellie Martin is much better as Christie and Tyne Daly is the older female lead (the role Dian Ladd plays in the movie)...

Kurt got me the DVD TV series sets for Christmas this year! I watched it while it was originally on TV, it also ran on Hallmark Channel, the same US station that played DQ for years.

I haven't watched all of the DVD's yet, but I really enjoy the episodes.

The book is really good too of course! I recommend it highly!

I watched Christy when it was on Germany TV (Super RTL). Unfortunately it was aired at a bad time, and I never got to know how it ended.

I had no idea that they even made a (several?) movie(s), but I really liked what I got to see, and I wish they would rerun it one day.

I remember some people from my class used to watch this. But I don't think I did (unless I'm suffering from another memory loss again hehe...). It sounded like a nice series, though.

I'm interested to read it, and hopefully can get it from amazon (I searched around and found a shop locally that said they could order it, and this was me: , but then the order was cancelled because apparently it's unavailable now ). Btw, do you happen to know what the difference is between the original novel and the children's series? Are the children's books a series of stories that are chapters in the novel, or are they entirely different?

Oh, i missed this thread, thanks for bumping it up Jenny!

I have both the Christy series and the movies. The movies are ok to watch, but like Barbie said the series is waaaaay better. All the actors fit the roles much nicer and i thought their was much more chemistry between Kellie Martin and the two "love interests." If you liked the movies Lizzie, i would highly recommend trying to see some of the series, im sure you'll love it!
