This kid (age 20) performed this on American Idol and I immediately thought of my favorite DQ video of yours

I thought he did a fantastic job (kind of messed up at the very end) but very nice. Even Simon loved it! His name is Jason Castro:

Aw thanks for posting it, Amy! I liked it too (just saw it last night), it was very touching. My favourite version of that song is perhaps sung by Allison Crowe. She has got an amazing voice.

I really loved the Jeff Buckley version, but I must say I haven't heard Allison Crowe's! I'll have to check that out.

OH MY GOSH!!!! I missed this thread.

And now I must tell you this: I was actually at napster ten minutes ago to search for versions of this song; I just felt like listening to it, for no certain reason. So I heard Buckley (still my favorite), and Cohen, and the Shrek-version was the last, when I went to the forum, and found THIS thread. I swear, that's the truth.
And it is from March 7th. (We were both sick at that time, maybe that's why we missed it. I'm sure Slicker hasn't seen it too; I have to tell him.)
But the link didn't work somehow, and so I searched for it on my own.

I found this boy simply great. His voice is so fitting for this song, and he sang it - it was said by one judge - brilliantly!!!! It was amazing.

Is he still on American Idol?

Awesome performance of this young guy!

He has a charismatic voice! Another wonderful interpretation of this outstanding song.

Btw.: At least in the American Idols the candidates are able to sing obviously - this is a huge lack of the German Idols right now (with one or two exceptions).

LOL Ella & Doc...I figured it just wasn't popping out at you! Glad you finally did see it---I had a feeling you'd like his version! Indeed, no Jeff Buckley by any means, but I must say, I was moved. And yes, he is still in the competition...he was in the bottom 3 two weeks ago and I just about keeled over!

But this week he was safe and I really want to see him go far. He IS my favorite, but he has a tendancy to do the same kind of song all the time and people like variety. So we'll see what he comes up with this week.
