New Social Group - Religion and Weltanschauung - Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman - Forum

Dr. Slicker has created a new social group called "Religion and Weltanschauung", with the following description:

This (quite vast...) theme seems very interesting to me, Doc. But firstly, could you please tell me

what Weltanschauung means? You Germans have this weird habit of creating very long and very complicated words from simple concepts and ideas (the most famous being Gesamtkunstwerk), so it's never easy to follow your "train of thought"...

Maybe my pc-dictionary was faulty somehow in the common usage of the term "Weltanschauung". Perhaps a native speaker can correct me, if the German weltanschauung is no common word in English.

Weltanschauung means outlook on life, world view or ideology. I created the group to catch the interest not only of religious members out here, but to talk about all personal aspects of our view onto the world.

Thanks for your reply, doc! Shortly after posting my question yesterday, I typed the word Weltanschauung in Wikipedia (I sometimes wonder how I managed to live without Wiki before?)

I've never heard "Weltanschauung" before

I think this is an interesting subject too. We do have a thread about this, right? You could use the same title as that thread perhaps?
