What are your favorite books? If you have to pick 5 books, which would you take? Which book has a special place in your heart?

Here are mine (in right order):

1. Pride & Prejudice by Jane Austen
2. North & South by Elizabeth Gaskell
3. Persuasion by Jane Austen
4. Jane Eyre by Charlotten Bronte
5. Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens

Off course, there are many other books I like very much and this list is subject to change over time.

This is hard... the famous five books I would bring with me to a deserted island...

1-Wuthering heights by Emily Bronte
2-The Martian chronicles by Ray Bradbury
3-A passage to India by E.M. Forster
4-Il Gattopardo by Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa
5- The shining by Stephen King

Very tough question. There are still so many books I haven't had time to read yet but which I'm pretty sure I will love. Well, if I had to pick today, I would pick:

1. Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen (I think I prefer it a bit more than Pride and Prejudice, though I love them both)
2. Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë (Well, it's a perfect novel in many ways besides being very entertaining.)
3. Mrs. Dalloway by Virginia Woolf (I'm just fascinated by her use of language and how you can write such a piece about nothing in particular which is then at the same time about everything of great importance.)
4. The Hours by Michael Cunningham (one of the best (recently written) books I've read in several years)
5. any book by Astrid Lindgren (Pippi Longstockings was my childhood hero, and Astrid Lindgren was such a wonderful storyteller who entertained me and my sister for so many years when we were read bedtime stories. )

This was hard, I had to leave out things and I couldn't decide. Maybe I will change my mind after a while.

Hmm interesting. A lot of Janeites consider this book less entertaining and more difficult to get into the story, which doesn't mean it isn't good .
