My mention of one episode characters in the friendships thread got me to thinking of some of the memorable one episode characters from DQ:
Uncle Teddy Bird Man Walt Whitman Lucius Slicker Gilda St. Clair Princess Nizamoff Doc Eli Sam Lindsay The list could go on and on. Who are some of the one episode characters you remember and why? Cheryl |

I know why you forgot her, Kahle: she appears in an episode without Sully

She was the one who told Grace and Robert E that Anthony would be okay. She was supposedly psychic, but she had a guy who would find out personal information about the residents of CS and the Princess would use that to influence people into thinking she could see the future.

I can't help it, and I would like to give a more unexpected answer, but I think one of the most memorable one-eppy-characters (for me personally one of my favourite characters of all) is certainly Sam Lindsay. She had the most charisma and the most personality.
Some of these one-eppy-characters seem to disappeare behind Michaela, but not Sam. In the episode Pike's Peace it was the other way around: everyone else seemed to disappeare behind her. Her presence filled the screen. And her ideas of life and love and independence in every way were so pleasantly fresh, that at least I had wished I could have heard them not only in this episode. Too bad.

Doc Eli for me is a highly memorable and impressive character!
He had to face the cruelties of the Civil War and this experience broke up his blueprint of life. The highest need and the highest challenges for a physician destroyed the lifeblood for this profession. He is roaming around, because he lost his inner homestead. He drinks to forget and sells his "medicine" off to others not to earn money primarily - he is acquainted to the blessings of being in oblivion and that is his last possible kind of public welfare.

Sam Lindsey is definately one of my fave one-episoders too!
And I do have a soft spot for the whole "portraits"-episode, so Kenny Rogers as Daniel Watkins is very memorable to me and pops up in my mind as the first one I think of. And yeah, I know this is awful but another one that also pops up in my mind fast is Rankin! His face is unforgettable when he says "see if I can find this Sully fellow". Of course lots of other characters come to my mind, but these were the first three. |

It has to be Sam Lindsey for me too. Ella already described the main reason: the first moment she arrived, she was like one of the main characters, and not just a "guest star" giving an appearance in one episode. Hmmm, maybe that's what you call good presence...plus good scriptwriting.
I just love the actress who plays her. They couldn't have found more perfect person for this role, in my opinion.

Definately Sam Lindsay, for me too.
But also Preston A. Logde II. And that in a negative way. It's a pidy that a father didn't commend his own son. Preston III. waited for some warm words from his father. But there was nothing, no hug, no smile. Sigh, no father should be like him.

Oh yes, Preston's father. How could I forget him?! I think his appearance was so memorable, because we learned so much about Preston by getting to know his father. His visit really put some things into perspective.

Yep. Preston´s father gave us some valuable hints for the personality of his son.
And I agree with Sophy, Daniel Watkins would have been a great additonal character for more eppies. I´d like to put him into one order with Jackson Tait, Kid Cole and Elias Burch, although they appeared more often. Male characters, which aren´t found in the first-row-cast.
