For me the best songs and performances. For being a Slavic the quality of the Norway singer was quite poor, but that's my biased opinion as I am part of a folk group. The tune was kind of simple and predictable, sounded like many Russian folk songs. And the lyrics was nothing out of world. I strongly agree with Spain being at the bottom of the list. That song was horrible.

I was surprised to find many good songs this year! Norway, Iceland, Russia and Estonia were all my favourites.

There were pretty good songs indeed. My favourites were Portugal, Israel, Iceland, Bosnia Herzegovina and Sweden.
I'm glad that I'm not the only one who didn't like the song of Norway. I don't understand the success of Azerbaijan neither...

Yep, we watched sort of together, in our own living rooms in different countries but talking via laptop - very cool!
Thank you, it was fun! ![]() I agree that there were more 'song' songs this year, and fewer crazy dancing acts - more of a song contest again. My favourite was Iceland, followed by Norway and Portugal. I'm surprised about Sweden and that Finland was last though - it wasn't terrible. The rapping Finn . Denmark's singer did a good Ronan Keating impression (apparently the song was actually written by Ronan Keating and performed in his style). And oh yes, I liked Israel too. ![]() Btw Mireille and I thought that the Greek lead singer was dancing around as if he has ants in his pants!

LOL!! My parents really liked Iceland, and I fell more and more for Albania as I watched and heard it. Guess my parents had better taste than me

Too bad I couldn't join you in the chat, Lizzie and Mireille. I was attending a housewarming party last Saturday, so we stayed there to watch the contest since we don't own a tv anyway. I don't know. Estonia's song was the only one I liked, and there were a few others who were okay as well.
By the way, I heard from my friend in England that they really liked the lady who was singing Sweden's song. I promised to ask if she's ever recorded any classical music or things like that, so I guess Sophy is the right person to answer this question.

I've been making some research on her and she is like an opera singer but quite revolutionary, she has shows that mix opera with comedy. I've seen her at youtube.

Ah thank you, Gemma! I'll point my friends there then so that they can see if they like her other material.

I had not heard of Malena Ernman before this year's Eurovision contest, but now all Swedes suddenly knows her. I think she's mostly working abroad and is successful there. However right now she's playing in an operaversion of Cinderella in Stockholm. Haven't seen any records, but perhaps there will be more of that.
