Totally not a book I would normally read, but am DESPARATE for books atm, so I picked up this book called Superfreakonomics. It is a book based on random events and truths that can be explained by the principles of economics. Sound boring, you say? thats what I thought. But its totally not! so interesting...chapter titles so far:"Why prostitutes are like department store Santas" and "Why Suicide bombers should take out life insurance" Hehehehe Really interesting and quite an easy and enjoyable read.

LOL, that sounds quite funny.

Last night I started reading F In Exams, a collection of the funniest exam answers people have written. I'd recommend it; great for a laugh.

I'm reading Great Expectations by Charles Dickens.

Please, Geertrui, let me know what you think of it. I've had that book on my bedside table for quite some time now. I've never been scared by thick books and I love Dickens' ones but this one I cannot bring myself to read it...

Yes, I will . I'm not that far so I can't judge yet. I can tell you that I have high expectations concerning this book after having read Oliver Twist and A Christmas Carol which I liked very much.

I am reading "Son of a Witch" by Jerry Maguire. It's the sequel to "Wicked" the novel. I enjoy reading it, I also enjoyed reading Wicked, though sometimes it's a little difficult to understand because he uses many words that I just don't know, I think they are not commonly used in today's English.

I've finished Great Expectations. I find the beginning a bit slow, the introduction is quite long. It took me a while to get into the story but when I was, I really liked it. The story is intriguing. The main theme of this book is life, the good and bad things in life. I can recommend the book, definitely.

Thanks Geertrui! I have to finish the book I'm currently reading ("The book your curch doesn't want you to read!") and I know what I am reading next!

It is, actually! It's an analysis of all religions from an anthropological and secular point of view. It starts from the ancient Egyptian, Greek and Roman gods and miths to nowadays new religions. It's interesting and easy to read!

I'm not in the classics these days, I prefer to read for distraction . Thus I read all three Simon Beckett books. I was a bit disappointed about The Chemistry of Death (which was so highly praised!!), but I thoroughly enjoyed Written in Bone and Whispers of the Dead. I like stories where nothing can be taken for sure until the very end... In Written in Bone it is literally the last line that changed everything again . However, who likes thrillers - I can recommend Simon Beckett.
(Bubb - I haven't forgotten about The Tea Rose - it still is on the pile next to my bed. )

Hahahaha! I am sure you're gonna like it! I loved it. Oh and make sure to read the sequel "The Winter Rose" as well.

You might think of me as a shallow person because I'm not reading any classics (at the moment anyway) but someone's biography instead, but honestly, I don't care. I like reading (or watching) biographies of people I admire (and hope to hold Jane's biography in my hands one day).

It's Patrick Swayze's biography "The Time of my Life", written both by Patrick and his wife Lisa Niemi. It's very well written, very entertaining, and very honest. I'm not even halfway through it, but I think it's really worth reading.

Edited to add: Holy Makkaroni, this post is number 1111 for me, LOL.

Oh, I would love to read Patrick Swayze's biography...nothing wrong with that! He was a magnificent person, and he handled his illness with such bravery and dignity. He was a great person indeed.

Congratulations on that post count, Anne!

Amber, I got my copy of the book from Amazon. I chose the paper back though, not the hard cover, for financial reasons. (I wanted to buy it since its release but had to wait a couple months)
