Default The King of Pop is dead!

I am sure everyone of you has heard by now that Michael Jackson died yesterday afternoon LA Time. He was only 50 years old.
I've never been one of his biggest fans but I grew up with his music and really liked many of his songs.
As a person I think he was very... umm... let's put it nicely... weird? I know that have I have shaken my head many times while reading or watching the latest news about him.
I was surprised to learn that he had passed on so unexpectedly. I think this will be one of those special events you will remember for a long time when people ask you "do you remember what you did when you learned that Michael had died?"

R.I.P. Michael Jackson

I'm never been a fan of Michael Jackson but this news came as a shock though. He planned a series of concerts... It's weird, it looks like someone famous passes away here everyday this week: a politician and a famous singer/ presentator. And now Michael Jackson...

RIP Michael Jackson

Full agreement with your post, Ann-Cathrin.
I just read it in the news, and I must say I was totally shocked, even if I exactly felt about him like you.
He was one of the extraordinary people. Maybe it's healthier for some to be less extraordinary, less famous, less special.
I agree that this will be an event people will remember like they remember when Elvis died or John Lennon was killed.
He will become a legend and I wonder who in Hollywood will make the first movie about his life.
It's sad.

I would even dare say there is already a script for a M.J. movie hidden in some producer's drawer. I also wonder who this might be and who will play the leading role.

I heard about it just a while ago. Very unexpected and sad as well. I liked some of his older songs too and he was involved in some charity projects that were good. His public person seemed very strange and I guess he must have had serious problems. But he wasn't that old, so of course it's shocking that he suddenly died.

It's so sad. He was such a great talent and I love many of his songs.

I have a friend who was going to see one of his concerts in London this summer. She is a big fan.

I was really shocked when I heard about this. My brother broke the news of his death yesterday, late at night, and I just couldn't believe it. Just few days before this news, I saw an advertisement on the net, promoting his upcoming concerts in London. It's sad, he was too young.

I felt the same as many of you have already said. It is sad; unexpected and young.

I didn't know until this morning at work. I was unpacking a big delivery when my boss mentioned that Glastonbury (music festival) had turned into a Michael Jackson tribute after the news (I asked "What news?") Then I couldn't quite believe what she said for a moment.

This is so sad. To pass away just as he was planning his comeback. I loved his music when I was younger, but didn't stay much of a fan as he began to act strangely. His poor brother was trying to hold it together during that press conference yesterday and all those cameras were going off while he's trying not to lose it. Just a sad time for his family and such a shock to so many.

Another sad thing is that we tend to honor and appreciate people when they are gone, but while they are alive it's mostly the bad stuff that gets attention in the media.

Is it very bad when I say that I’m not sad or shocked He was sick, physical and mental and if we are honest we knew we could expect something like this, any moment.
I doubt he would have ever given the 50 concerts

It’s not that I didn’t like his music. No he rocked in his best days. Even have some records And his Thriller-video was the best ever made! But for me he was out of the picture for years already. He went too crazy as many of you already said. Hopefully he has rest now.

Aww, I love his album "Thriller". I couldn't stop listening to it when I was younger.

In a weird strange way I must confess I felt a kind of peace when I heard he was dead this morning. Don't get me wrong, but I just felt that despite that he was 50 it feels like he has gone through tons of things, been veeery famous and got alot of publicity - like Elvis. He was an original soul and made a mark in history with his attempts to become white. At least that is what I think about first. In a strange way I feel that he has had a full life ten times more than a normal person, and it feels almost not his style to get real old. Sence? Oh well...

I was driving to work this morning when I switched on the radio and caught the last sentence of the news at 7:30, which was "... and today, like we started the news with, the great king of pop Michael Jackson is dead..." Just like you named the title of this thread Bubb!

I also feel a sort of shock though. I didn't even believe he was already 50, I guess the years pass by fast. He is definately one of those who will stay alive for a looong long time as a legend. I feel sad for all his true fans.
